On July 22, 2010, the NPS Foundation hosted a New Quarter Kickoff Party welcoming incoming students to NPS at the Roman Plunge Picnic Area. The event was a fantastic opportunity for current student members to meet and welcome new friends and their families to the Naval Postgraduate School and local community. Those who attended the party were treated to pizza and drinks courtesy of the NPS Foundation.
Whether it is the beginning of an NPS student’s tour in Monterey or a long time NPS Foundation member who is close to graduation, events like these allow students to interact with other students and NPS Foundation supporters such as members of the NPS Foundation Board of Trustees who were in attendance. One of the evening highlights was when LT Matt Walker and the NPS Hockey team presented RADM Merrill Ruck, Executive Director of the NPS Foundation, a jersey to show their thanks and appreciation for the help and generosity of the NPS Foundation in sponsoring the NPS Hockey Team this past season. The NPS Foundation sponsors several student clubs on campus including the NPS: cycling club, running club, pistol/rifle team, hockey team and volleyball club.
The NPS Foundation is proud to support students by sponsoring this and similar activities throughout the year to improve the overall student experience at the Naval Postgraduate School. Next quarter the NPS Foundation will host another new quarter kick off party which will be open to all NPSF Student Enhanced and Premier members and their families as well as the entire incoming class of new students. The date of the next kickoff party will be announced in late August.
