The NPS Foundation Cycling Club participates in cycling races all over the Monterey Peninsula such as the Sea Otter Classic at Laguna Seca.The NPS Foundation along with Foundation members Gary Laughlin, Gordon McCall and others are proud to help sponsor the NPS Foundation Cycling Club. The NPS Foundation Cycling Club is also a part of Velo Club Monterey. Club Cyclists are active in both road biking and mountain biking. The club meets for several rides per week to help each other prepare for races as well as to help meet overall fitness goals. Club members also network with each other to schedule additional group rides and social events. 5.2.1 President - Duties include, but are not limited to, coordination of all administrative details and chairing all meetings. (Bill Dean)
5.2.2 Vice President- Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting in the coordination of all administrative details and chairing meetings in the President's absence. (John Fernandez)
5.2.3 Treasurer - Duties include, but are not limited to, receiving and dispersing funds, race reimbursements, providing profit & loss financial reports, maintaining a bank account and preparing an annual budget. (Jared Sweetser)
5.2.4 Secretary - Duties include, but are not limited to, keeping the minutes of all club meetings and providing information for the club website. (Dave Ramsaur)
5.2.5 Ridley Bike Manager/Club Room- Duties include acting as the liaison between Forest Hill Bike Shop and the NPSCC to oversee the general condition of the bicycles and immediately report any infraction or abuse of the equipment to the Executive Board. Also responsible for the Club Room, its contents, and keeping track of all NPSCC-owned gear. (Cameron Ingram)
5.2.6 Member at Large: This is an appointed, advisory position and no specific duties are designated. Responsibilities depend on delegation of tasks by elected officers. (Elizabeth Thiel)
5.2.7 Events Coordinator: Responsible for ensuring all NPSCC events have a designated appointee coordinating all details in order to appropriately represent the Club and NPS. (Bryan Martin)
5.2.7 Public Affairs Officer: Responsible for all communications and information operations in support of NPSCC mission, vision and values. Also responsible for the Club website upkeep/maintenance. (Patrick Flood)
5.2.8 Executive Emeritus- Gordon McCall, founding member of the NPSCC, shall be a permanent member of the Executive board and as such, shall have voting rights and privileges to provide guidance in concert with the founding principles.
As a benefit of NPS Cycling club membership, NPS Club Cyclists have the opportunity to use the team Ridley bikes to train or compete in cycling races/rides or triathlons. Club members are expected to clean the bike thoroughly before returning it to the Forest Hill Bike Shop. Those competing in a team sponsored cycling race/ride or triathlon have top priority for bike use. Please be courteous to others who wish to use the bikes for these purposes.

Cycling Club jerseys are stocked regularly in sizes small to 2XL in men's sizing and small to extra large in women's sizing in the NPS Foundation Peacock Shop on the NPS Campus. Club members who are also NPS Foundation lifetime members receive a complimentary jersey when they join the cycling club. Club members who are NPS Foundation annual members can purchase one NPS jersey for $25, while the general public can purchase a NPS jersey for $65. To order a NPS Cycling Jersey by phone and (internet orders are not available) please contact the Peacock Shop at (831) 656-2090.
The club will also order long sleeve jerseys, shorts, jackets, and vests from our custom cycling apparel vendor at the beginning of each academic quarter. For more information on ordering custom cycling apparel, please contact Giovanna Kha Marino in the NPS Foundation Office at gakhamar@nps.edu. The next club order will take place in mid July. The last order is scheduled to arrive on or around June 23rd. The shorts, vests, etc. are only available to club members and are not for sale to the general public.

HER Helmet Thursdays (H-E-R is an acronym for Hotels, Educational/Entertainment and Restaurants) allows cyclists to receive a 10-50% discount on Thursdays at participating H-E-R businesses and organizations. At H places, just bring your own bike or rent a bike for the day. At E and R places, bike there, then walk in with your helmet in hand and mention HER Helmet Thursdays. Participating locations are in: Big Sur, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Castroville, Del Rey Oaks, Gonzales, Greenfield, Marina, Monterey, Moss Landing, Pacific Grove, Salinas, San Ardo, Sand City, Seaside, and Soledad. 2. Choose “Sign In and Apply for a membership.”
3. If you have a google account and want to join the group using it, sign in. Skip step 4.
4. If you do not have a google account, click “Create an Account.”
-Enter the email address you want to use for the running group, a password (twice), and the word verification. Click “I Accept. Create my account.”
-Account creation confirmation. Google may send you an email to verify your email address. Click at the bottom to continue.
-Once you receive that email, click the link to verify the email address. There is no need to do this before continuing with the next steps.
5. Join: Choose your email setting based on how frequently you'd like to receive updates from the message board. Click “Apply to this group.”
6. Once your application to join the group has been reviewed, you'll receive an approval from Google that you've been added to the group. You'll start receiving group updates based on the account settings you've created.

-Maj Mike Hudson is leading a group of riders on a 600mile journey from San Fran to Camp Pendleton
-Supports Sentinels of Freedom and Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
-They will be riding to NPS and staying at Herman Hall on 20 Sept. We’ll have a group meet/escort them in that afternoon.
