
Mr. Richard Pagnillo served on active duty in the Navy until 1971. He primarily served as a Pilot/Tactical Coordinator in ASW aircraft but also taught at the US Naval Academy, was in Cuba during the missile crisis and had two tours in Vietnam. He served as a Naval Reserve officer and retired in 1980 as a Commander.
Mr. Pagnillo received a Bachelor of Science degree from the US Naval Academy in 1959 as well as a Master of Science degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1965. He has also completed 30 hours of postgraduate work in accounting and taxation through American University and Golden Gate University.
Professionally, Mr. Pagnillo worked for a CPA firm for two years, managed a business, and then established a tax preparation and consulting business in 1975. After he sold his practice he became a partner with Kenneth Petersen in 1990. Mr. Pagnillo has been an enrolled Agent since 1982 and was also the Director of the San Jose chapter of the state organization of enrolled Agents. He was also a previous Chief Financial Officer of the Monterey Alliance on Aging from 1994-1997.
Mr. Pagnillo volunteers for multiple organizations including: youth baseball and softball, church parish council and treasurer, home owners association, eight years on the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors of Leadership Monterey, and on the County Ad Hoc Committee on Supervisory Redistricting. His memberships include the American Legion, Navy League, Rotary Club, Disabled American Veterans, USNA Alumni Association, and a trustee of the Naval Postgraduate School Foundation since 1996.
Mr. Pagnillo is married to Margaret (Peggy). They have four children, Kaye, Aggie, Beth and Joe; and several grandchildren.
