Skip Armstrong

Trustee Emeritus, NPS Foundation

RADM Skip Armstrong retired from active duty with the United States in October 1987 after 32 years of service as a Naval Officer. A Naval Aviator with over 7,000 hours in more than 60 fixed and rotary wing aircraft, he held both aviation and surface ship commands. While on active duty, Admiral Armstrong’s specialties were in the areas of strike warfare operations and in strategic planning, gaming, and analysis.

Admiral Armstrong worked for Northrop Grumman Corporation from 1987-1995. At Northrop Grumman he held senior executive level position in general management, military customer requirements, program management and strategic and business planning.
From 1992 to 1995, he was the Director of Strategic Planning and Deputy to the General Manger of the Northrop Electronics Systems Division. He also served for six months in 1994 and 1995 as the Acting General Manager of the Hawthorne Site operation with full P & L responsibility.

Admiral Armstrong earned a B.S. from the Naval Postgraduate School and was a Senior Fellow of the Center for Civil Military Relations at the Naval Postgraduate School.

Admiral Armstrong resides in Monterey and enjoys golfing and flying. He served on the Board of Trustees of the NPS Foundation from 1997-2015.
