Developing Agility

Corporate Partnerships are about delivering capability to the Department of Defense. Our corporate partners bring subject matter expertise, access to advanced technology, and other resources. Through the mid-career students and the experienced faculty at the Naval Postgraduate School, corporate partners gain invaluable insights into what works as well as what does not work. Through partnerships with the best-in-class companies, NPS raises its profile as a place to engage in ready, relevant work for the benefit of the DOD.
Looking forward, we will continue to support and expand the partnerships with Microsoft and Xerox as we engage with HII, Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, Anduril and Rebellion Defense to drive the adoption of critical capabilities for the DOD. NPS is developing concepts for student project teams that leverage interdisciplinary capstone projects to help the DOD and industry cross the tech transition “valley of death," bringing new agility to the acquisition process. Whenever the operationally-experienced students and defense-focused faculty work with a corporate partner to support a DOD sponsor, all sides learn, adapt and grow faster and in ways it is hard to anticipate.

In May 2022, Microsoft and NPS announced a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to explore highly complex issues associated with rapidly integrating and adopting new technologies in support of naval warfighting and national security. With the announcement of Microsoft as the 2022 NPS Foundation Corporate Partner of the Year, we recognize Microsoft’s investment in the people, research and facilities at the Naval Postgraduate School and their shared interest in delivering rapid capabilities for the Fleet and Force.
